As if they didn’t already have their hands full with the launch of their new spring/summer seasonal bar at Kampus, those creative souls at Three Little Words have now launched an incredible new drinks menu.

The menu, which launched on April 12th, has been designed by the UK Top 50 Cocktail Bars Team of the Year 2022, and takes its inspiration from the history of alcohol production. Twelve incredible new drinks have been designed to take us into spring and summer.

Each drink is connected to a moment in time related to various spirit-making processes – such as fermentation and distillation. The name for the new collection of cocktails is 78.37 – the boiling point of alcohol.

Three Little Words is the premium cocktail bar and restaurant of award-winning distillers of Manchester Gin, Sphere Vodka, One-Eyed Rebel Spiced Rum and One Point Six Whisky, located alongside the state-of-the-art distillery on Watson Street, Manchester

Bar Manager, Daniel Clark and Head Bartender Ben Purday have created a dozed cocktails which range from the sweet and indulgent right through to the adventurous and outlandish, with some unique and visually intriguing serves.

“I really liked the idea of exploring how the development and production of alcohol has subtly changed our entire history, an overarching theme through almost every society and culture,” explains Daniel. “I decided this was an interesting route to go down, taking inspiration from key moments for each drink.”

Highlights of the new menu include the candied, decadent and silky Rhubarb and Custard which has a Manchester Gin base which delivers on the nostalgic flavour of the traditional sweets.

Ben Purday said: “We enjoyed bringing together a collection of innovative techniques, such as milk washing and cold vacuum distillation, to create something recognisable – it really gives us so much creative freedom and allows us to create thought provoking drinks.”

Other new concoctions include Flight of Fancy: a delicate and sherberty cocktail with floral elements from hawthorn berries, honey cordial and a peach soju used, balanced by a funky lacto-fermented peach and hawthorn berry ferment, which Daniel describes as a “a short, interesting drink, with a beautiful subtlety backed up with real depth of flavour.”

Friends on the Other Side is a funky, distinct and zingy drink, visually resembling a small beer. It features a clear white-rum iteration of the distillery’s own One Eyed Rebel rum. “It’s really nice to have access to the distillery when it comes to base spirits,” adds Daniel. “We can manipulate the processes and be able to make changes to our spirits to suit a cocktail we’re trying to make here in the bar.”

Moment of Madness is a refreshing, soft and velvety drink, featuring Haçienda Gin alongside a distillate made from the bar’s leftover wine of the previous week, Daniel describes his excitement for this cocktail, “Every time you come and get it, there will be a subtle unique change as the wines used will change from week to week.”

Guests can drink, dine and even have a go at distilling under one roof at Three Little Words and The Spirit of Manchester Distillery.

Three Little Words is open 5pm – 1am, Wednesday and Thursday, 12pm – 2am Saturday, and 12pm – 12am Sunday.
