Following two incredible years raising over £42,000 for The Christie, The Manchester Soul festival is back once again to take over the August bank holiday weekend.

Taking place in various venues within The Printworks, including its very own pumpyard, the festival of Soul and Motown bands, artists and DJs, who all give up their time for free in the name of charity, will be running from noon until late on Sunday 28th August.

Though the full line up is yet to be announced, the acts gracing the main stage will be lucky enough to be performing on the ‘Frank Byrne stage,’ named in memory of the Manchester legend who worked tirelessly to get the festival started and to make it the success it is today.

Confirmed acts so far include Twisted Wheel, The Soul Temptations and Soul Amigo’s with loads more yet to come.

Not only that, but also this year Frank’s granddaughter Darcy Leah Byrne, will be gracing the main stage during the afternoon to have her hair cut off and donated to charity. The youngster has been growing her hair in preparation, and wants to raise money for The Christie following her Grandad’s battle with cancer last year.

Fred Booth, Centre Director for The Printworks, said “Every year this event gets bigger and better, and we want to improve on that once again. The aim is to make as much money for The Christie as we can, as well as making sure visitors have a fantastic day. We’ve got a great line up in the pipeline already and a host of great offers from our tenants for throughout the day, so it promises to be a great day for all the family.”

Emma Giagnacovo, Community Fundraising Officer at The Christie, said; “We are so excited to be involved for the third year running in the Printworks Northern Soul Festival. The support behind this event has been fantastic and we’re so grateful for everyone’s hard work. The money raised will go towards supporting vital services for cancer patients here at The Christie in Manchester.”

The Printworks party will be spread through the scheme all day long with drinks and food offers at the majority of venues including Hard Rock Cafe, Walkabout and Yates.
