Great North Pie Co, makers of delicious award-winning pies, has announced it will officially open its new kitchen & bar at Kampus on Monday, 27th February.

The Wilmslow-based business also has sites in Ambleside and at Altrincham Market, but this will be its first city centre-based venue.

Their new Manchester home will be a cosy and intimate space with booth-style seating for 20-covers inside and an outdoor area for seating up to 30-covers overlooking the Kampus garden and canal.

The first menu at the new venue will feature four seasonal butter-pastry pies, stuffed to the brim with the highest quality ingredients from North West producers. The range is based on classic flavour combinations including their 14-hour braised beef and ale, roast chicken and mushroom and the company’s signature classic Lancashire cheese and onion.

Each pie can be served with a wide range of sides including buttery mash or proper home-style chips, cauliflower cheese, pickled red cabbage, mushy garden peas or chip shop mushy peas. But what about the gravy? We hear you. You can choose from roast onion and brown sauce gravy or the house curry sauce.

There will also be weekly ‘comfort food’ specials such as lamb and pea steamed suet puddings, corned beef hash, Lancashire Hot Pot, and keema and chips. They are also offering school dinner-style sweet treats for dessert such as chocolate sponge and custard, or sticky toffee pudding.

A drinks menu of matching beers and wines has been designed to complement the pies. They will be offering Manchester Union Lager on draught, a selection of quality wines and Prosecco, plus a handful of spritz-style cocktails.

Classic breakfast sandwiches will be served daily between 10:30am and 2.30pm featuring quality ingredients including Cheshire Smokehouse honey-cured bacon and Stornoway black pudding.

Great North Pie Co’s range of handcrafted pies, which have previously been voted the Best Pie in Britain, will also be available to take away cold, ready to be heated at home.

Neil Broomfield, co-founder of Great North Pie Co, said: “Since we started making pies it’s always been an ambition to have a base in the city centre. We’d been looking for a while and as soon as we saw Kampus, Little David Street and the gardens, we knew it was the right place for us. While it’s our first city centre venue, we don’t have plans to rollout out any more, as we place our focus on keeping the quality and consistency we aim for. We just want to concentrate on doing one thing and doing it well. The mix of traders coming into Kampus is amazing and we’re so proud to be part of it.”

The pie brand currently supplies pubs and restaurants nationwide and also supplies to the likes of Booths, Robinsons’s brewery, Dukeshill Hams, Manchester City Football Club, Stockport County FC, and other popular pubs and restaurants across the country. Its products can also be found at monthly farmers markets, where they started the business, in locations such as Urmston, Knutsford, Northwich, Altrincham, Chester, Wilmslow, Chorlton, Bakewell, Macclesfield and West Didsbury.

The Kampus venue is open for bookings for large groups on Friday and Saturday evenings. Opening seven days a week, the full opening hours are:

Monday – Wednesday, 10:30am-6pm

Thursday – Saturday, 10:30am-10:00pm

Sunday – 10:30am-6pm
