The Covid-19 lockdown meant many Mancunians have missed out on events and occasions which they’d normally celebrate with friends and family, be it a birthday, an anniversary or have worked overtime to keep us all safe during troubling times.

That is why to celebrate the fifth anniversary of its launch, Corn Exchange Manchester is holding a birthday bash with a difference; the site is inviting its guests to share their stories of missed celebrations or to nominate deserving individuals to be granted a surprise Corn Exchange treat.

The site will also be sharing these nominations across its social media channels and on its website.

Taking part could not be simpler. All guests to the Corn Exchange’s mix of bars, eateries, entertainment venues and the hotel can collect a card during their visit on which to nominate someone to receive a treat, along with leaving a reason behind as to why they deserve a surprise.

It could be nominating a family member or friend who has worked at the frontline of the Covid-19 crisis, a neighbour who has worked to support the local community, someone who couldn’t celebrate a major milestone or their birthday or even a nomination for yourself – because everyone needs a treat after the tough year the UK has had thus far.

After filling in the card, head to the Corn Exchange’s iconic atrium and drop the nomination into the post-box, which will be situated by the site’s newly unveiled mural. Each week, the site team will randomly select nominations to receive a surprise courtesy of the Corn Exchange.

The selected winning nominations will be treated to a Corn Exchange experience at one of the site’s fantastic brands, including Banyan, Cosy Club, Delhi House Café, Doner Haus, Escape Hunt, Gino’s, Mowgli, Pho, Roomzzz and Salvi’s.

The surprises range in size from Friday night cocktails to a dinner for two and even a full-on Mancunian staycation, complete with a hotel stay.

The Corn Exchange Manchester launched in summer 2015 following a £30M redevelopment.

Since then, the site has quickly become a go-to dining and leisure destination for the city thanks to it mix of international cuisine, casual and formal dining styles and cocktail and entertainment venues.

“This summer we’re celebrating five years of entertaining the city – after a tough year for everyone in the UK, we felt it was appropriate to use this birthday celebration to reward and thank our visitors for their support, which is why we’re keen to make birthday wishes come true. We’re excited to hear our guests’ nominations and to see the lucky winners enjoying a treat courtesy of the onsite team and brands.”
