Famed for its decadent afternoon tea offering, Manchester’s luxury five-star hotel, The Lowry Hotel, has unveiled a celebratory afternoon tea in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – stacked high with treats Buckingham Palace could only dream of.

The Queen’s Jubilee limited-edition afternoon tea menu will run from Thursday to Sunday throughout the month of June, with the exception of Father’s Day weekend, in the hotel’s River Restaurant.

On the sweet treats menu, guests can expect Morello cherry mousse with pistachio financier and Grué Nougatine, lemon curd Swiss roll served with Saint Clements jelly, lemon custard and crushed amaretti, and Gateaux Opera cake made with layers of almond sponge soaked in coffee syrup, layered with ganache and coffee buttercream and finally covered in a chocolate glaze.

The savoury selection includes the likes of haddock kedgeree tart with cured egg yolk and caviar, roast beef and horseradish sandwiches with pickle and roquette, plus hot smoked salmon bagels with lemon crème fresh and dill.

There will also be a range of freshly baked fruit and plain scones, with accompanying strawberry preserve and Cornish clotted cream. But don’t worry – no judgement, even if you do put your cream on first!

With enough tea to quench the thirst of three royal families, this looks set to be one great royal knees up!

Rhea Leach, Marketing Manager at The Lowry Hotel, said, “You probably haven’t received an invite to the palace this weekend, but fear not – you can still get a five-star experience that’s fit for a Queen.

From kedgeree to roast beef and scones to Gateaux Opera cake, we’re positive that HRH would give our special Queen’s Jubilee Afternoon Tea menu her all-important royal seal of approval.

So book your table at The River Restaurant and experience this feast of foodie delights for yourself! It’s truly a menu for all to enjoy, from mum and dad to the children and grandma and grandad – everyone’s invited.”

The Lowry Hotel’s Queen’s Jubilee Afternoon Tea is priced at £29.95pp for adults and £13.75pp for children.
