The Great Northern is hosting a free On the Beach Tots Pride event for families to enjoy on Sunday 29th August, in partnership with On the Beach, the UK’s biggest beach holiday specialists.

The event will take place at the venue’s iconic outdoor Amphitheatre and will be run by a highly experienced and professional forest school trained play-facilitator.

Designed for under 5s, the session will feature exciting Pride-themed activities, including the making of rainbow shakers and story time with the books ‘Julian Is A Mermaid’ and ‘Pink Is For Boys’, which explore the themes of gender stereotypes and self-expression in an engaging way for children.

Centre Director for the Great Northern Warehouse, Mark Schofield, said: “We are very excited to throw this special On The Beach Tots event in support of Manchester’s Pride weekend.

“Pride is all about bringing people together and this is exactly what this event will do. The Great Northern provides a central hub in the city for all ages, and we think play sessions like these can contribute towards building a stronger Great Northern community. Not only this, but parents will get to connect with their children and vise-versa.”

On the Beach Marketing Director, Steve Seddon, said: “At On The Beach, we champion inclusivity and diversity every day and are thrilled to be hosting this special event at Great Northern Warehouse. We know that a beach getaway this Bank Holiday may not be on the cards for a lot of people and this is a great opportunity to give families some ‘beach’ time to enjoy together a little closer to home.

“Our previous On The Beach Tots sessions at Great Northern Warehouse have already been a huge hit and we’re confident that this special Pride event will be one to remember.”

The session will take place from 11am – 1pm and booking is essential.

This Pride season, the Great Northern Warehouse is raising funds for the George House Trust and QR codes will be available on tables across venues for visitors to donate to this important charity.

The venue is also proud to be hosting an eclectic art exhibition that features the vibrant ‘Bearded Brutes’ collection by Mark Leeming. A QR code will also be available at this window display and visitors are encouraged to have a look and donate.
