Barton Square, TraffordCity’s unique retail and leisure experience, has announced a range of fun activities for families to take part in over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Barton Square’s bank holiday lineup promises to bring a real sense of adventure and variety to the heart of TraffordCity.

Market-leading virtual reality specialists Rezzil will be on-site on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th, inviting guests of all ages to enjoy a new VR game entitled Player22, letting them show off their sporting skills like the pros, and test their reaction speeds!

On Saturday 28th, Barton Square’s spacious hall will host a series of eye-catching displays from Manchester Academy of Gymnastics, a local troupe of budding gymnastics enthusiasts, and Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club, one of the most successful and historic wrestling clubs in Great Britain. Anyone missing the Olympics already can get a taste of true athleticism between 12pm and 6pm.

Over the course of the weekend, LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre are offering guests the chance to enjoy a Meet & Greet with iconic LEGO characters, as well as a photo opportunity with their impressive football trophy display.

To celebrate the success of our returning Olympians, Myro Doodles will create an evocative art display paying homage to the local Olympic medalists at a specially-chosen location in Barton Square. Live from August 26, the display will provide the mall with another ‘instagrammable’ photo opportunity that will keep the Olympic flame burning brightly.

Visitors to Barton Square will also be able to enjoy a series of live DJ sets throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, adding to the sense of vibrancy and adventure at play at the shopping destination.

Mark Whittaker, executive director of Peel L&P, owners of Barton Square, commented “We are so excited to have such an array of activity at Barton Square this Bank Holiday weekend. The events this weekend are an ideal moment to celebrate our wonderful Olympians, of which 16 medalists hailed from the North West Region, and to inspire the next generation with displays from Manchester Academy of Gymnastics and Bolton Olympics Wrestling Club. And with our display from Myro Doodles, we are celebrating local artists too.”

Mark added “Here at Barton Square we want to inspire the young children of our region- whether that be in a creative sense or sporting sense- and bring a taste of that Olympic glory to TraffordCity.”

Barton Square’s range of shopping and leisure brands will naturally be open throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, including: Primark, LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, SEA LIFE, Silentnight, Homesense, Natuzzi and Next Home.

Barton Square is situated in TraffordCity and linked via a bridge from The Trafford Centre.
