The  first production car in the UK to be sold without a rear window is launching with the Company behind it the saying that the removal of a transparent rear viewing pane “enables a new kind of immersive rear occupant experience”.

The Polestar 4 has a high-definition screen taking image data from a roof mounted camera

The all electric car promises up to 379 miles from one charge and can fast-charge from 10-80 per cent in half an hour .

“Polestar’s innovative interpretation of an SUV coupe offers great interior space and a stunning appearance,” said Polestar boss Thomas Ingenlath adding that The removal of the rear window wasn’t an accident Polestar had to design its way out of, more a by-product of offering up more rear headroom.

Pushing the ‘header structure’ as far back as possible meant putting in a glass window would have been useless. “The window wouldn’t help,“it would have been below the actual sightline.”

The camera’s definition is said to be particularly effective at night when drivers often struggled with glare from the car behind.
