For those with an ear for classical music, there is a great event taking place in Manchester tomorrow which may be of interest.

It’s the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) Gold Medal Competition, which sees ten of the RNCM’s most outstanding performers for the Gold Medal.

This year, for the first time competing are four of the College’s leading composers, with new works written for the Borealis Saxophone Quartet (recipients of the Christopher Rowland RNCM Chamber Ensemble of the Year Award in 2013).

In a departure from previous years, the contest moves outside of the College across five concerts in one day beginning at ten in the morning with the winner announced at 8pm.
