Cześć foodies! The Great Northern has revealed who will be taking over its Community Kitchen on the Square this week, and it promises to be packed with delicious pierogis.

This week, expect modern interpretations of authentic Polish classics, injected with passion and full of flavour, as Manchester’s best-loved, independent Polish restaurant, Platzki, takes over the Community Kitchen.

From traditional Polish smoked sausage with bacon and potato-filled pierogi to deep-fried pork pierogi served with homemade BBQ sauce, crispy black pudding balls served with apple gravy, to steamed white cabbage rolls filled with either pork or mushrooms, and served with a tomato sauce, every mouthful will transport you to the breathtaking mountains and bustling streets of Poland.

Ranging from £5 – £9 all dishes are the perfect size to share with friends or family or to enjoy yourself.

And it doesn’t stop with the food; Platzki will be serving up traditional Polish tipples, including some good old fashioned Somplica vodka flavoured with quince, hazelnut or cherry.

Or enjoy a G&T with a twist from Didsbury Gin. With a range of flavours to choose from including raspberry and elderflower, strawberry and lemon or blood orange, along with classic red or white wines, or an ice-cold pint of Estrella Damm.

The Platzki dining experience is open today and will run Friday to Sunday 12:00 – 21:00 Friday to Sunday. No need to book, simply pop down and enjoy drinks and food outdoors either solo or with the rest of your household.

The pop-up restaurant on the square provides a COVID-secure space for local businesses that are restricted with limited outdoor dining space. The weekly takeovers allow these restaurants to serve up their delicious cuisine right in the heart of Manchester.

All diners will experience table service to reduce close contact and ensure social distancing to kept at all times.

We’re excited to welcome one of the city’s best-loved eateries, Platzki, and I’m sure visitors to the Great Northern will love the authentic flavours of Poland which will be on offer at our pop-up kitchen over the weekend.”
