Whether you’re a Royalist or not, there’s plenty of reasons to drink bubbly on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day.

Foodinate, a fast-growing social enterprise, has teamed up with Manchester champagne bar, Epernay, to offer a free glass of fizz or champagne cocktail to anyone called Harry, Meghan or Megan, who attends the bar on the day of the Royal Wedding.

But if you don’t share those namesakes, don’t worry.  You’ll still benefit from knowing that, for every glass of house champagne or champagne cocktail you buy between midday and midnight, Epernay will provide a free meal to a person in need via Foodinate.

Since launching in 2016, the Foodinate scheme, which sees local people in need receive free hot meals, has gone from strength to strength, with over 25,000 plates of hot, nutritious food given so far.

For every meal featuring the Foodinate logo, the restaurant covers the cost of providing a nourishing meal from the city’s Booth Centre.

The enterprise has recently welcomed several new partners including Tariff & Dale, The Lead Station, Proove Pizza and Evuna, and are excited to soon announce its first national restaurant partnership with The Alchemist.

And as more and more venues have come on board, Foodinate has decided to extend its current ongoing restaurant model to include events.

Among the first companies to sign up to the events model is GG Events and Catering – owned by former Manchester United stars, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.

This means that for every person who attends an event booked through them, at any of their venues, a hot meal will be provided at no extra cost to their clients. Venues include Hotel Football, National Football Museum, and Salford City FC.

Caroline Stevenson, who founded Foodinate, said: “We’re so excited to welcome Epernay to the Foodinate family. It’s a fabulous venue so knowing you can hold your next event there and not only have an amazing time but also make a positive difference in the community at no extra cost to you is an amazing thing.

“We are gaining huge momentum now so if you have an amazing hospitality business and would like to see how you can join the movement then please do get in touch as we’d love to speak to you.”
