A free event is taking place on Saturday (30th October) to bring dogs and their owners together to mark Halloween.

The ‘Howl-O-Ween Pawty’ will be hosted in Angel Meadow Park from 11am – 3pm and follows a successful Pride event over summer.

Dogs are invited to wear their best spooky costume – as long as they are comfortable in it – and can be entered into the Halloween-themed show, with multiple fun categories to compete in.

These include ‘Trick or Treatster’ where dogs have the chance to scare judges with their talents, ‘Ghoulden Oldie’ which celebrates dogs over seven years old, ‘Spookiest Pup’ for the youngsters and an overall ‘Best Dressed’ for all of the best Halloween costumes.

Pooches can also get their paws stuck into other activities including a tricky ‘dogstacle’ course and sprinting competitions.

The event will include pop up stalls selling Halloween and autumn-themed pet products and accessories from Manchester-based Frenchie Fancies, Lola’s Treats, Squeaks, Good Girl Candles and Paw Naturaw.

It has been organised by Far East Consortium, the developers behind MeadowSide – a pet-friendly housing development of more than 750 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, townhouses and penthouses overlooking the city centre’s largest green space.

Andrew Bradley-Nixon, sales and marketing director at FEC, said: “These regular community events are a great way to meet new people, have fun and celebrate the city’s pets. We really do get dogs of all shapes and sizes attending!

“Everyone is welcome to come along to watch the show and appreciate the outfits.”

Anyone wanting to compete should enter here.
