Double British Comedy Award Winner Dave Spikey returns to Middleton Arena next month during his anniversary tour.

The much-loved stand up and star of the smash hit Channel 4 comedy ‘Phoenix Nights’ appears at the arena on Friday, 24 November 2017, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his comedy career.

Dave was also the first comedian to ever appear at Middleton Arena, and has performed 3 sold-out shows at the venue in 2009, 2011 and 2014.

The show will see him looking back on his life and his incredible journey from working class lad and Chief Biomedical Scientist to the renowned comedy performer. From Phoenix Nights, 8 out of 10 Cats and Bullseye, to Dead Man Weds, Magnolia, The Royal Variety Show, Parkinson, and his countless live shows.

In 2015 he starred in a sold out run of 15 nights at Manchester Arena in ‘Phoenix Nights Live’ which raised over £5 million for Comic Relief – the most money raised by a live comedy show in the world.

Dave had been working in the NHS for 19 years as a biomedical scientist when in 1987 someone uttered the immortal words, “You’re really funny, you should be a comedian” and for some reason, he took them seriously!! A few months later he was crowned winner of the national talent show ‘Stairway to the Stars’. Larry Grayson, one of the judges, told him that it was close, but what clinched the title for Dave was his routine about a juggler on a motorbike. He often reflects that maybe none of this would have happened and he might still be looking down his microscope today if it wasn’t for the juggler on the motorbike!!

Dave Spikey is still one of the most sought-after comedy talents in the UK with numerous television appearances to his name as a stand-up, presenter and actor, and behind the screens, as an acclaimed comedy writer. As well as starring and co-writing in 2 series of ‘Phoenix Nights’, he also co-wrote ‘That Peter Kay Thing.’

Dave Spikey – ‘Juggling on a Motorbike’ visits Middleton Arena at 7.45pm on Friday, 24 November 2017. Tickets are £18. Book the Dave Spikey Juggling on a Motorbike online. And you can buy in person at Heywood Civic Centre.
