The Former Mayor of Wigan Michael Winstanley has been selected as the Conservative Candidate for the Makerfield by-election.
“It’s an honour to be selected to stand for Makerfield. I was born here, went to school here and represented here on the Council. Makerfield is my home. I am looking forward to the campaign and setting out my positive plan for Makerfield.“ Winstanley said

“I know there have been calls from a minority of people for the Conservatives to stand aside in this fight. That will never happen. The people of Makerfield and Britain deserve the opportunity to vote for a party that is committed to reducing the welfare bill, that champions business and understands the perils of nationalisation, that is open and transparent about who it gets its donations from and doesn’t try to hide millions in crypto funding.“
