The perfect mid-week treat this season, Girl Dinner at The Refuge has had a dazzling new twist – starting from Tuesday 21st October, the chefs at the iconic Manchester dining destination are serving up the most indulgent kind of contradiction.
From next week and only on Tuesday evenings, diners can enjoy a triple-stacked chip butty that’s comforting yet refined: crispy triple-cooked chips piled high in a buttery croissant bun, finished with bravas sauce and a whisper of aioli. And, of course, it wouldn’t be Girl Dinner without a little sparkle. The Refuge is pairing this iconic northern staple with the effortlessly chic Pornstar Martini.

Girl dinner at The Refuge is available every Tuesday in the Winter garden, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, for £18 pp. It’s comfort meets glamour, salt meets sweetness, high meets low – exactly the kind of playful spirit Mancunians live for in autumn at The Refuge.
But that’s just the beginning. The restaurant, part of the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, is excited to unveil a full refresh of its main menu. In true Refuge style, the menu draws inspiration from cuisines across the globe while championing local producers and elements you know and trust, available now.
Curated by Chefs, Cameron Tetlow and Paul Beckley, the new main menu delivers a bold variety of snacks, small and large plates, and sides. Highlights include:
Korean fried chicken served with asian slaw and sesame – an energetic, flavour-forward small plate staple
Pan-roasted hake, braised leeks, smoked pancetta, turbot cream – elevated, elegant, and deeply satisfying
Confit duck leg, five-spice orange, hoisin, cavolo nero – bold and comforting
Butternut squash risotto, smoked sheep’s cheese, dukkah (V) – a vegetarian delight
Cauliflower bravas, bilbaína, aioli (V) – a vegetable-forward flavour bomb
12oz 30-day aged rib-eye, peppercorn sauce – for those craving serious meat indulgence

For those who love to share, the Refuge are also bringing a Feasting Menu which celebrates the joy of dining together – served family-style for the table, it’s a journey through Refuge favourites designed to spark conversation and indulgence in equal measure.
And, as always, The Refuge is committed to serving something for everyone – so the new menu comes with vegan and gluten-free alternatives, keeping inclusivity front and centre.
Everyone is welcome at Refuge, including four-legged furry friends. Dogs can tuck into their very own Dog Roast Bowl available on Sundays, featuring meat, veggies and a splash of gravy.
Long-standing favourites are still on the Sunday menu for humans too, including The Refuge’s legendary Roast platter for two. Grab a mate and enjoy slow-cooked rump of Lancashire beef, garlic & thyme roasted Cumbrian chicken and Yorkshire porchetta, paired with crispy roasted potatoes, Vimto red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy. It’s a feast designed for sharing and one that’s recently been recognised by Lonely Planet’s 2025 England Travel Guide as one of the best Sunday roasts in Manchester.
