Neighbourhood bar & restaurant, Motley, has launched a smokin’ hot new menu featuring smokehouse-style dishes, all seasoned in-house and slow-cooked over hickory wood.
Bringing a British BBQ take on authentic American smokehouse dishes to Manchester city centre, the Deansgate restaurant is one of the only places in the city where diners can enjoy smokehouse flavours, many of which are locally sourced with low food miles.

Signature dishes on the new menu include Slow Smoked Brisket, seasoned in Motley’s signature rub before being slow smoked for over eight hours, Beef Short Rib with a chimichurri sauce and Pork Belly Strip seasoned with sage and onion and finished with a panko breadcrumb crust. Costing from just £16, all mains are served with beef dripping fries, rainbow slaw, pickles and Motley’s homemade beef gravy.
A vegan smoked veg kebab is also a key star of the new menu featuring courgette, mushrooms, bell pepper, sweet corn and red onion drizzled with homemade BBQ sauce bringing a taste of the deep south to your five a day.
The signature dishes are complemented by a wide range of small plates including Short Rib Bonbons and Homemade Fresh Corn Bread, Spicy Chicken Wings and Bang Bang Cauliflower, along with sides such as Mac and Cheese and Frickles (deep fried pickles).
Motley house favourites including its steak, vegetable hash, salads and beef, chicken, halloumi and plant-based burgers are all still available on the new menu.

Local suppliers include Althams Butchers which has been established since 1856 and provides meat from the north west only. Vegetables are from R Noone and Son which is a Stockport based supplier offering produce from local farms and Cheshire Farm provides the local, real dairy ice cream. It is important for Motley to support local suppliers and bring their stories to the forefront as a place for Mancunions to get together for a bite to eat and a few drinks after work, a quick lunch or for a weekend visit.
Victor Gonzalez, food and beverage manager at Motley, said: “Our new signature smoked dishes are all crafted and seasoned in-house then slow cooked for hours over hickory wood to create rich and smoky melt-in-your mouth flavours. From our slow-smoked brisket to our home-made sides, everything has been carefully crafted to bring an authentic taste of the deep south to Manchester and we can’t wait for guests to try it!”
Motley also offers an extensive range of bespoke cocktails, soft drinks, wine and lager and delicious desserts.
