A problem with the overhead lines on Portland Street is causing early morning problems on the trams in the City Centre

The Ashton line is currently suspended while no trams are calling at Shudehill, Market Street, Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly.

There are also issues with buses coming into Piccadilly Gardens

The following routes are now running

Bury – Altrincham services will travel via Exchange Square

Bury – Victoria

Altrincham-Crumpsall via Exchange Square

Airport Line services will operate via Exchange Square

Eccles Line services will operate Eccles – Cornbrook

Trams on the East Didsbury, Rochdale and Trafford Centre lines are unaffected by the incident.

In a statement released recently TFGM said:

We’re sorry that some people’s travel may be impacted this morning by damage to an overhead power line.
“We have engineers there now working to fix it and I’d encourage passengers to allow some extra time for their journey and check our website and social media for the latest information and advice.
“We have additional staff out on the network and will do everything we can to get this resolved as quickly as possible.”
