A problem with the overhead lines on Portland Street is causing early morning problems on the trams in the City Centre
The Ashton line is currently suspended while no trams are calling at Shudehill, Market Street, Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly.
There are also issues with buses coming into Piccadilly Gardens
The following routes are now running
Bury – Altrincham services will travel via Exchange Square
Bury – Victoria
Altrincham-Crumpsall via Exchange Square
Airport Line services will operate via Exchange Square
Eccles Line services will operate Eccles – Cornbrook
Trams on the East Didsbury, Rochdale and Trafford Centre lines are unaffected by the incident.
In a statement released recently TFGM said:
We’re sorry that some people’s travel may be impacted this morning by damage to an overhead power line.
“We have engineers there now working to fix it and I’d encourage passengers to allow some extra time for their journey and check our website and social media for the latest information and advice.
“We have additional staff out on the network and will do everything we can to get this resolved as quickly as possible.”
