If you are a Star Wars fan there is a treat for you! Watch The Empire Strikes Back on a giant HD screen with a live symphony orchestra at Manchester Arena (27th). Journey with the rebel alliance once again as Imperial forces wrestle for control of the galaxy. It’s time to feel the force of John William’s epic score.

Popular comic book-inspired characters will take over Stockport this month (28th) as Merseyway Shopping Centre hosts The Comicon-Way. More details can be found here.

Salford Music Festival (28th,29th) will be held this weekend with artists such as James Holt and Jess Kemp performing.

With the launch of Mini Cini at CULTUREPLEX this week films will be showing there this weekend. Fri 27 Sep, 18:30 – Arrival. The Death Institute will be hosting Stay Fresh Fest (28th) showcasing the best emerging bands in the North.

If you fancy a dance this weekend the o2 Ritz is throwing a High School Musical Party. Celebrating 13 years since it’s release on the Disney Channel they will be playing the songs from the 3 movies and you are encouraged to dress up as your favourite characters.

Food and Drink

Head over to Manchester Food and Drink Festival running from 26th September to 7th October. This weekend spend the evening with Simon Shaw (27th), see live cookery from chefs like Sam Buckley and Andrew Green (28th) and experience the Vegan Takeover with John Robb (28th).

At the Lowry Outlet, the monthly Makers Market is back (28th,29th). The Makers Market is an event bringing together the finest and often award-winning food, drink, art and craft producers in the area.

Gin fans get ready. Manchester Gin Festival is back (27th,28th). Get yourself down to Manchester Cathedral and enjoy a true Gin Festival, featuring 120 listed gins, plus a selection of new and local gins to enhance your experience.

Sport

With Manchester United playing at the start of next week, attention this weekend will shift to Manchester United Ladies who take on rivals Liverpool (28th) at Leigh Sports Village at 12:00.

Rochdale host Wycombe (28th) after their brave efforts against Manchester United in midweek, they will be looking to improve their recent league form after a recent slide.

Playoff placed Forest Green will be visiting the region as they take on Salford City (28th).

Bowlers Exhibition Centre will host World Combat Fighting Championships ‘Way of The Warrior’ show (28th) with a host of fights including championship bouts.

On Saturday night Manchester Storm will take on Sheffield Steelers in the Challenge Cup at Planet Ice Altrincham (28th).

Manchester Giants will look to get back to winning ways after two defeats against Leicester Riders in the BBL Cup (29th).

Theatre

Macbeth will be running at the Royal Exchange Theatre this weekend (27th,28th). More information available here.

At the Lowry Theatre Under Three Moons (27th,28th) will be available to watch. Spanning half a lifetime, ‘Under Three Moons’ takes place on three nights across three decades of two friends’ lives.

Two Horrible Histories performances will be taking place at the Palace Theatre this weekend (27th,28th). Awful Egyptians and Terrible Tudors will both be available for viewing.
