A free event is taking place on Saturday 5th June to launch a new community of Manchester dog-lovers.

The first Ex-Paw event, which will be hosted in Angel Meadow Park from 11am – 4pm, will offer a range of activities for dogs to get their paws stuck into, including a ‘dogstacle course’, photoshoots and a guided dog walk.

Proud dog mums and dads can also enter their pooches into a mini dog show, with four fun categories to compete in including ‘best trick’ and ‘waggiest tail’. Anyone wanting to compete will need to enter in advance here.

There will be a range of local dog-friendly businesses showcasing their products including Lola’s Treats and Squeaks, Woofin’ Treats, Dog Togs, Paw Naturaw, along with food stalls for the humans to enjoy.

Dog owners will also be able to attend a range of talks, including one on pet first aid where they can learn the top tips for how to help their dog in an emergency.

The first 50 Ex-Paw attendees will receive a free goody bag of doggy treats. Sign up here.

The event will launch Ex-Paw, a platform to bring together the city’s doggy community for group dog walks and other pooch-friendly events, alongside useful tips and advice – including recommendations for the city’s top pet-friendly brunch spots and walking routes.

Ex-Paw is sponsored by Far East Consortium, the developers behind MeadowSide – a housing development of more than 750 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, townhouses and penthouses overlooking the park.

Andrew Bradley-Nixon, sales and marketing director at FEC, said, “Angel Meadow Park is Manchester city centre’s largest green space and events like Ex-Paw help to bring the local community back together after the time spent apart – with some fun in there for the four-legged friends too.

This is one of many events we’ve got planned this summer to help the community try something different and make good use of the park, including regular yoga and mindfulness sessions.”
