There are very few things we Brits love more than a cup of tea and a slice or two of toast. But can you believe we throw away 24 million slices of bread a day in the UK?

The Only Way is Essex star, Georgia Kousoulou, is working with the Love Food Hate Waste campaign and is calling on the people of Manchester to end the waste of this much-loved British staple and make our loaves last longer by storing them correctly. Georgia’s message to Manchester is: Be a Loafsaver!

The way to save your loaf couldn’t be simpler – head down to the Trafford Centre between 25th – 28th February to collect a FREE Loafsaver bread clip, which can help to keep your bread fresher for longer, saving you precious pennies on the weekly shop.

So, for all those breakfast bacon butty fans, those that can’t live without their lunchtime cheese and pickle and those that fancy a fish-finger sandwich for tea, you can continue enjoying British bread at its best.

Georgia Kousoulou said: “Bread is a daily essential for most of us, we love to eat it, so it’s shocking to me how much gets thrown in the bin. The good news is there are some really simple changes you can make to save it, like using the Loafsaver bread bag clip, keeping your bread in a bread bin or storing half your loaf in the freezer for later in the week.”

“Using a Loafsaver clip is such an easy way to make sure your bread is fresh, so make sure you grab one.”

Just look out for the Loafguards – looking fresh from the beach in red and yellow lifeguard attire – in the Trafford Centre between 25th – 28th February, to collect your free bread clip.

Loafsavers is brought to you by Love Food Hate Waste which was developed in 2007 following research by WRAP (the charity behind the campaign) into how much household food and drink is wasted in the UK and why.

Love Food Hate Waste aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce food waste and helps people to take action and change their behaviour. The campaign focuses on the easy, practical things we can all do at home every day to waste less food, which is good for our purses and good for the planet.
