The Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced a package of measures dubbed the Great British Summer Savings scheme

From 25 June to 1 September, VAT on summer attractions like theme parks will be temporarily cut from 20% to 5%

Kids’ tickets for cinemas, concerts, soft play and restaurant meals will also be cut

There will be free bus travel for children under 15 throughout August

‘What matters for families is not just getting by, but being able to enjoy time together without worrying about the next bill.’ she told the House of Commons

She confirmed that the 5p duty rise in petrol due in September will be delayed and has announced that employees will now get 55p per mile when driving for work.It had been frozen at 45p since 2011

The Chancellor also announced support for the chemicals sector amid the economic uncertainty sparked by the Iran war.

Reeves said that she had the right economic plan’ as she criticised the war in Iran’s impact on the economy.
