Visitors to Tatton Park on Saturday 20 June can enjoy a special preview of this year’s Knutsford Promenades.
The atmospheric Stableyard at Tatton Park will be the stage for ‘Radio Wartime Tatton’, a short, original performance piece written by Promenades Director, Robert Meadows after intensive research into the Tatton Archives.
Members of youth theatre Minerva Arts have joined Knutsford actors and volunteers to perform the piece. Visitors will also be treated to an excerpt from Tony Davies’ ‘The Men of King Street’ – the experiences of WW1 soldiers from Knutsford retold through letters from the trenches, and a song from The Trumpet Major.
Carole Mullineux, Tatton Park’s Business Development Manager said: “It’s been great to be involved with the Knutsford Promenades this year.
“Robert has worked closely with some of our wonderful volunteers to find out lots of interesting, unknown facts about the last Baron of Tatton, Maurice Egerton. Some of the Tatton staff team are also involved in the show on Saturday.”
“It’s a one-off chance for our visitors to see an entertaining piece of theatre in the unique setting that Maurice Egerton would have called home.”
The free-to-all performances will take place at 2.00pm and 3.00pm in the Stableyard. The Tatton Park entry charge of £5 for cars applies with cyclists and walkers free.
