Sweet manufacturers Swizzels are celebrating their milestone 95th birthday this summer. One of the largest and most well-known sweet makers in the UK, Swizzels have manufactured sweets since 1928, creating memorable sweets including Rainbow Drops, Drumstick Lollies, Fizzers, Love Hearts, Parma Violets and Squashies.
Today, Swizzels manufacture 40,000,000 Love Heart sweets every week. If you were to lay them side by side, they would span 500 miles. It’s not just the UK that gets to enjoy Swizzels sweets; they export to 26 different countries and go as far as Australia.
They also manufacture the same weight as 14 double-decker buses of Squashies each week..
To celebrate their 95th birthday, Swizzels is launching a nationwide search to find the Ultimate Swizzels Super Fan. If you know anyone who is so crazy about their confectionary they’ve called their dog Drumstick, wear a Love Hearts-themed manicure, or has a secret Parma Violets tattoo, Swizzels wants to hear about it…
Jeremy Dee, Managing Director at Swizzels, explains how exciting the milestone birthday is, “To be manufacturing sweets for 95 years is such a huge achievement for all involved at Swizzels. Our heritage is really important to us which is why we are so excited to celebrate this milestone birthday. Finding the ultimate Super Fan is a fun way for our customers to get involved in the celebrations and for us to see just how much love our customers have for all the sweets we produce.”
2023 is a big year for Swizzels with the opening of a new factory in Middlewich close to their current home in New Mills, Derbyshire. The new factory, which is in addition to their current factory, will mean they can produce even more delicious Squashies every year.
