The Stoller Hall in Manchester has announced its biggest ever Christmas programme – featuring festive choirs, classical singers, big band spectaculars, artisan markets and panto!

The Stoller Hall at Chetham’s is located in Manchester city centre’s Medieval Quarter, opposite Victoria train station and Cathedral Gardens. The 500-seat venue is one of Manchester’s newest performance spaces for live music and events – from classical orchestras to folk, jazz and comedy.

The Stoller Hall’s festive season begins on Friday 11 December with a series of live events taking place throughout the weekend, beginning with traditional carols by local singers from Salford Choral Society, performing Handel’s much-loved masterpiece, Messiah.

On Saturday 12 December families are invited to discover the classic fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk in pantomime. It’s a show for the over 3’s (and their giants) with something for everyone – enormous shoes, tiny houses and a big, leafy explosion!

Meanwhile, The Stoller Hall’s atrium and bar area will be filled with the smell of mince pies and mulled wine with the chance to pick up some unique Christmas gifts at the venue’s annual Artisan Markets.

Also on Saturday 12 December, The Stoller Hall hosts a special Christmas concert from a cappella music specialists, The Apex Singers. The Manchester based 8-part vocal ensemble – described by Simon Mayo as “stunning” – return to The Stoller Hall to perform for in-person audiences after a successful lockdown live stream concert in 2020.

Former BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners, The Furrow Collective, will perform a special festive programme on Monday 13 December, before the Christmas magic continues with a big band extravaganza from the Syd Lawrence Orchestra on Saturday 18 December.

Audiences are invited to support young talent and get into the festive spirit with Christmas carols and songs from talented young musicians at Chetham’s School of Music, filling The Stoller Hall air on XX DATE. Chetham’s is home to more than 300 of the UK’s finest classical musicians, aged 8-18.

For weary Christmas shoppers in need of calm and peace, young Chetham’s musicians, aged 8-18, also perform free lunchtime concerts at The Stoller Hall, at 1.30pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during term time. Schedules can vary, so audiences are advised to check concert listings and programmes online at chethamschoolofmusic.com.

Fran Healey, General Manager at The Stoller Hall, said, “We’re inviting audiences to join us for mulled win, mince pies and the sound of Christmas. Whether it’s through the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, who have been delivering spectacular festive big band performances for more than 50 years, or incredible young talent from Chetham’s School of Music, we can guarantee audiences will leave us with a warm, feel-good festive glow!”
