The Rex Hotel is putting a fresh spin on one of Britain’s favourite traditions with the launch of its new savoury afternoon tea – an indulgent experience designed for those who favour refined, flavour-led bites over sweet treats.

Served in the elegant surroundings of Reign Restaurant, the experience begins with a selection of cold savouries including charcuterie featuring sliced chorizo, Parma ham and salami with crackers and onion chutney, alongside mature cheddar, goat’s cheese and brie.

Guests can then enjoy an array of hot savoury dishes, from classic sausage rolls to roasted baby chorizo with molho rojo sauce and crispy onions, beef croquettes with dijonaise, and lamb kofta served with mint yoghurt and khobez. Complemented by a choice of premium teas and coffees, it’s an elevated take on afternoon tea that delivers all the theatre and sophistication of the original, reimagined for modern tastes.

The launch follows The Rex Hotel receiving an Award of Excellence from Afternoontea.co.uk, recognising the experience, craftsmanship and attention to detail that have made afternoon tea at The Rex one of Manchester’s most indulgent rituals. The Rex continues to offer a sweet Afternoon Tea for those who enjoy the classic!
