Capital&Centric has revealed the next name to land at the £60m regeneration of Weir Mill, as The Jane Eyre signs up to bring its laid-back, quality-first food and drink to Stockport’s canal side community.

The neighbourhood bar and restaurant will take a prime spot at the heart of the mill, serving up simple cocktails, local beers and a menu of beautiful wine, alongside small plates made for sharing and what’s set to become an absolute go-to Sunday roast.

But it’s not just what’s on the plate. The team are big on atmosphere too – creating spaces that feel warm, lived-in and full of character. Expect a mid-century inspired interior layered with detail, soft lighting, stacks of candles, great glassware and a soundtrack that carries you from post-work drinks into late-night hangs.

The arrival of The Jane Eyre builds on Weir Mill’s growing line-up of standout operators, as the historic mill continues its transformation into a neighbourhood of homes, eateries, and social spots.

Behind the scenes, The Jane Eyre has grown from a two-brother venture into a close-knit team of five – bringing together a mix of experience, skillsets and a shared passion for hospitality.

Charlie Bradley from The Jane Eyre said:

“We’re really proud to be opening at Weir Mill. Stockport is home for us, and we’ve always believed in it – so to be part of a project like this feels very special. Everything we do is about creating something guests want to return to – from warm, welcoming hospitality to thoughtful food and drink, done simply, in a space that feels right from the minute you walk in. Weir Mill is exactly the kind of neighbourhood we want to be part of, and we’re beyond excited to bring The Jane Eyre home.”

John Moffat Managing Director at Capital&Centric said:

“We’ve always wanted Weir Mill to feel like more than just somewhere to live. Bringing in operators like The Jane Eyre helps create the kind of neighbourhood people want to visit, whether that’s for a Sunday roast, midweek drinks or catching up with mates. They’ve got a brilliant eye for atmosphere, and we know they’ll bring something really special to the community”

Cllr Micheala Meikle, cabinet member for Regeneration, Skills and Economy, said:

“Having Jane Eyre choose Weir Mill for its next restaurant is a real endorsement of the quality and ambition of this development. As a much‑loved independent with a strong reputation in the region, the decision to open here as the anchor tenant reflects the growing appeal of Weir Mill and Stockport as a leading destination – somewhere people actively seek out to eat, meet and enjoy time together.

“This is exactly what regeneration should deliver: new jobs, strong independents and more reasons for people to spend time in the town centre, while keeping the character that makes Stockport what it is. Investment of this quality shows the direction we’re heading and the momentum we’re building, ensuring Stockport remains a vibrant, welcoming and thriving place for residents, visitors and businesses alike.”

Having already made their mark in neighbourhood-led destinations like Ancoats and Chorlton, the team bring a blend of experience and genuine passion for hospitality – with every detail considered, from the menu to the mood.
