A man who was struck by a car while walking his dog along Hollin Lane, Rochdale, on 31 October has sadly died in hospital.

The 35-year-old pedestrian was walking his dog on Hollin Lane when he was hit by a blue BMW 320

The car failed to remain at the scene following the incident.

The car was later recovered in the Heywood area and a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or those who were in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage is asked to contact police.

PC Andrew Sheldrick, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a terrible incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.

“We are continuing our enquiries and hopeful that there were witnesses who may have information about the collision that could prove a great help with our investigation.

“We are particularly keen to speak to people who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage in the vicinity of Hollin Lane in the lead up or directly after the incident.”
