Proposals for a potential new arena at the Etihad Campus in East Manchester have been shown to local residents for the first time.
The new state of the Art Arena by the American Oak View Group (OVG) are, they say,consistent with the wider commitment to continue the growth of Eastlands and the Etihad Campus.
This area of East Manchester has seen high levels of investment and rapid transformation in recent years, with the success of the Etihad Campus (including the Etihad Stadium and City Football Academy), the HSBC National Cycling Centre and the National Squash Centre among others.
The addition of a major entertainment visitor attraction on land adjacent to the Etihad Stadium has been an aspiration for many years and is identified within Manchester’s Development Plan.
The scheme is still at the feasibility stage and the Group are undertaking a full and open consultation process with local people to listen to feedback and take on board people’s views and suggestions.
