owners behind popular restaurant and bar, Chillz, have announced the venue is moving into the city following growing demand for its afro-fusion cuisine and glamorous, vibrant atmosphere.
Having outgrown its current premises on Oldham Road in Failsworth, Chillz will relaunch from a stunning new venue on Chapel Street, behind the National Football Museum this autumn.
The move will also see the restaurant refine its menu to offer a sophisticated range of elegant African-infused dishes including steak and yam chips and fried rice with grilled tiger prawns, complemented by a range of signature cocktails. When dinner draws to a close, the venue will provide entertainment into the early hours of the morning with a blend of Afro beats, R&B and pop music from respected live bands and DJs.
The new venue is currently undergoing a dramatic refurbishment to transform it into a uniquely-designed, urbane space boasting a lounge area, two rooms accommodating 100+ covers complete with a stage and DJ booth, a VIP space for high-end private parties as well as outdoor seating for up to 40 people. The location previously played host to Bijou Club which has closed its doors.
Chillz Restaurant & Bar is the creation of former colleagues Tunde Onolaja (Tee) and Enitan Omolaja (Enny). First opened in September 2020, it has proved incredibly popular with diners from a range of cultural backgrounds thanks to its unique offer of African and afro-fusion flavours as well as its dynamic nightlife scene.
Enny Omolaja, Co-Owner at Chillz commented:
“Our five-year Chillz adventure has finally brought us into the heart of Manchester where we can grow our unique afro-fusion fine dining experience combined with an unmissable nighttime scene. Customers have been coming from far and wide to appreciate the authentic flavours of Africa through our meticulously-crafted dishes. We now hope to make this journey more accessible while also offering our guests a stunning and sophisticated river-side setting in the city.
“Work is continuing to transform the venue ahead of our relaunch this autumn when we will say a fond farewell to our current premises which has served us so successfully for the past five years.”
