Plans for a huge development in Greengate have been given the go ahead by Salford Council’s planning committee this afternoon.

The scheme by AQ Investments will see three residential towers up to fifty storeys high containing up to 1,521 properties as well as a new park and public square in an area of Salford that has been derelict for some time.

The scheme will be built in three phases, the will consist of a fifty storey block of 559 properties and a public Greengate Park on the site of the old Christ Church

The second would include up to 518 apartments in two blocks of up to 41 storeys, and the third phase would see 444 apartments in a 40-42 storey tower, plus a boulevard and ‘Collier Square’.

Construction is expected to begin next month now that permission has been granted.
