Yard and Coop, Manchester’s first speciality fried chicken restaurant, will be hosting its third Big Student Chook Off on October 5.
So to all those new and returning students to the North West city, who aren’t ready to live off packets of noodles and pasta just yet, come dome to Yard and Coop on Edge Street and enjoy a plateful of buttermilk fried chicken, all for free.
Back by ever popular demand, The Big Student Chook Off gives every student from each university and college in the Manchester area the chance to stock up on some hearty food, before knuckling down to a hard year of studying (or not!).
Carl Morris co-owner of Yard and Coop, comments: “Once October comes around all the students will have returned to the city. So we want to say hello to some old familiar faces, as well as some new ones, with our latest Big Student Chook Off. All students need to do is sign up on the website with your details, or call into the restaurant, in exchange for a plateful of epic buttermilk fried chicken.”
On the day, Yard and Coop has teamed up Keep Peddling from the Northern Quarter, for one clucky student to win a Bobbin Metric bike, to help get around the city easily and get them to all their lectures right on time. Students will be given a raffle ticket on whilst tucking into their chicken, and will be asked to post a picture on social media, tagging in Yard & Coop, one of the snap happy students will be the chosen to win the bike and even more platefuls of chicken.
Carl adds: “Everyone knows we love a bit of the bird at Yard and Coop and we want to share this love with the fellow students of Manchester. But these guys get to enjoy it all for free, plus one of them gets to take back to the halls a pretty awesome bike, thanks to Keep Peddling. I’d say we are definitely worth a visit on October 5. Just don’t forget to sign-up. It’s that simple. The Big Student Chook Off, it’s free chicken with no wings attached – pun always intended.”
The Big Chook Off starts at 12pm till 12am on Wednesday 5 October. Students will be given a free plate of buttermilk fried chicken and chips, after signing up to their database, this can be done at www.yardandcoop.com/chookoff or in the restaurant on the day. Yard & Coop will also be holding a Business Chook Off on 6 October, for all businesses in the area to come down and grab a free plate of chicken.
