A white dragon, giant swans, aerial acrobat, stilt walkers, ice people, choir performances, falling snow and much more!

Head to Stockport for a white Christmas as Merseyway Shopping Centre hosts its first-ever Winter Wonderland.

On Saturday 16/11, Merseyway will be celebrating the start of the festive season with a magical winter wonderland and promises to enchant visitors with a programme full of spectacular shows and performances.

Kicking off at 16.15, the centre will be visited by its very own Snow Fairy, who will begin the countdown to Christmas with a swish of her wand, marking the beginning of the celebrations.

As the snow begins to fall and the Christmas lights turn on, visitors can look out for giant swans, ice people and even a white dragon, who will be making a number of appearances throughout the evening.

Families should look up to see an aerial acrobat performance, while an animatronic reindeer will be making its way around the centre to greet little shoppers too. Make sure you snap a selfie with the stars of the latest pantomime by Stockport Plaza, Jack and the Beanstalk, and do not miss the stilt walkers as they make their way through the centre.

Visitors can also singalong to popular Christmas songs with local choirs while families can try the latest festive food and treats from the Christmas Huts.

Centre Manager, Victoria Nichol said, “We’re thrilled to be launching Merseyway’s countdown to Christmas with a Winter Wonderland. This event has a really impressive line-up of performances and shows and we’d like to encourage everyone to come along with their families for a truly magical experience in Stockport.”

“This event is just the beginning of a fantastic programme of Christmas activity around the town centre and with our fabulous range of high street stores, it’s also the perfect opportunity to get a head start on Christmas shopping.”

Councillor David Meller, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council said, “Once again, Merseyway is pulling out all the stops this Christmas with this spectacular Winter Wonderland.”

“This promises to be a great family event, so come and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere, support our local businesses and get into the Christmas spirit. The lights switch-on marks the beginning of a range of Christmas activities in the town centre – lookout for further announcements.”

Shows and performances will take place at 14.30, 17.45 and 19:00.
