POMONA arrives at the Royal Exchange Theatre following its critically acclaimed premiere at The Orange Tree Theatre in 2014.
Set on Manchester’s deserted island of Pomona, Ned Bennett directs this dystopian adventure where urban myth and reality collide. Restaged in association with the Royal Exchange Theatre and National Theatre, this unsettling adventure arrives in Manchester on Thursday 29 October until Saturday 21 November. With only one road in and one way out who knows what truly lies at the heart of POMONA.
Ollie’s sister is missing. Searching Manchester in desperation, she finds all roads lead to Pomona, an abandoned concrete island at the heart of the city. Here at the centre of everything, journeys end and nightmares are born.
Alistair McDowall is a Bruntwood Prize winning playwright. His play Brilliant Adventures was a 2011 winning entry. Other credits include Talk Show  and Captain Amazing.

He directed the first major revival of Philip Ridley’s Mercury Fur! which transferred to the West End, and the UK premiere of Tracy Letts’ Superior Donuts at Southwark Playhouse; he directed Tom Basden’s new play The Crocodile based on Dostoevsky, at the Manchester International Festival in July.
The cast for POMONA are Nadia Clifford, Rebecca Humphries, Sarah Middleton, Guy Rhys, Sean Rigby, Rochenda Sandall and Sam Swann. The creative team includes Lighting Designer Elliot Griggs, Composer & Sound Designer Giles Thomas and Movement Director Polly Bennett.
