Manchester Arndale has unveiled its summer programme of events, with a host of fun, family activities to entertain all ages.

The first events will be held as part of the Read Manchester BookBench project; delivered by the National Literacy Trust, Manchester City Council and Wild in Art, the project sees 58
iconic BookBenches installed around the city.

Six of them are located at Manchester Arndale and have been designed by children from
schools including Higher Openshaw Community School, Moston Fields Primary School, St.
Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, St. Bernard’s RC Primary School and St. Peter’s CE
Primary School, as well as Manchester Creative and Media Academy.

Now, to celebrate the project and get more kids reading over the summer break, Manchester Arndale is hosting a series of free literary events in centre from Saturday 29 th July through to the end of August (full details below).

Speaking of the initiative, Head of Marketing Lisa Henderson said: “It’s great to be involved
in the BookBench project; it’s brought creativity and beautiful artwork into the centre, as well as giving young people a place to sit and read. With plenty going on in the city centre this summer, we want to offer families visiting Manchester Arndale a complete day out and we hope that these events will keep everyone entertained.”

In addition to the BookBench events, the much-loved ‘Get Your Eat On’ also returns to
Manchester Arndale for a fifth year. Running from 26 th July until 6 th August, the campaign gives shoppers access to 35 different food offers across the centre. Voucher booklets can be picked up in centre or online at manchesterarndale.com.

Discounts include plenty of buy one get one free offers, the chance for kids to eat free, plus
up to a huge 30% off meals at various eateries in the centre – perfect to keep the whole
family re-fuelled whilst enjoying the BookBenches.
