On account of only having two of the three freezer drawers at our disposal, I’ve decided that ice is my precious commodity.

Rightly or wrongly, I love tonnes of ice in my drinks. It doesn’t matter if it’s water, diet Coke or an alcoholic beverage – but not wine, obviously, as that would be a crime! – I love my drinks in a tall glass with lots of ice. I have even learned how to say this in Italian as it comes in handy, honestly, it really does, alongside the phrase, “gin and tonic without the cucumber, thank you very much” just for Mr Carnivore. From our big shop last week, we have lots of lemons and limes so my first job of today, feeling like a domestic goddess, was to chop the lemons and put them in the freezer.

Feeling very proud of myself, I then realised that this was not a big task so I needed to dial-down the self congratulatory smugness and start work. I also realised that I have forgotten what day it was as all of the days’ have sort of merged and blended into one. It really is just like the period of time between Christmas and New Year but without the colourfully decorated house, gorgeous pine smells, sentimental films on the TV and amazing food.

I know that social media can be a bit dangerous, especially when it is overused and when people believe that it is all true. I suppose the trick is that we know only half of it is true but it is knowing which half to believe is the difficult thing to fathom.

That said, one of the massive advantages I think Facebook has brought to me is the closeness with some family members, especially some of my cousins, as this would not have happened in the days of just the landline. I had a lovely meme from one of my cousins and she then offered to make sure mum and dad have everything they need as they live much closer than we do. I just thought it was such a lovely moment and shows how strong family ties really are, especially in a crisis.

I had a quick chat with my diet coach on FaceTime but didn’t admit to getting weighed on the light scales this morning – we’ll keep that to ourselves, shall we!

My List: Excellent, something different today – we’ve decided to sort out the DVD’s to watch and make a list – hoorah for lists; a few more chapters of “The Power” book – yay, the end is near; and even more VEEP with an episode of The Big Bang Theory. My new phone has arrived so that’s now on the “to do list” for tomorrow.

My lowlight: Being on a very heated conference call and thinking, not for the first time, that if the women behaved like some of the men do, we would be accused of being emotional, un-promotable, unrealistic and bossy. It really is like working with a bunch of toddlers sometimes.

My highlight: That amazing feeling when the final email of the week has been sent and the laptop is put away for the weekend – happy days. Oh, and deciding to go to St Lucia next February. I’m just hoping that my contract doesn’t go pop and that I will be able to afford to go – fingers crossed!

My Anxiety levels: Low to medium as there is a lot of work to do at the moment and it is a little more tricky when everybody is working from home.

Day 12 is Saturday and it is not just doing the cleaning day but is the start of our wedding anniversary weekend. I can’t wait but I guess I’ll have to!
