Reports this morning though denied by his spokespeople claim that Andy Burnham will launch a leadership bid for Labour leader within two weeks of entering Parliament

If he does win next week’s by election he will have to stand down as Mayor of Greater Manchester and one report says a future Mayoral Ekection could take place as soon as the end of July

Reports over the weekend said that Sources at Reform HQ say that the party believes Andy Burnham will win with a “massive majority.” and is now concentrating on finding a suitable candidate to run in the Mayoral Election

“The party wants to select a local candidate for the mayoral race potentially someone like Dan Barker, who stood for the position in 2024 and is a member of the party’s board.”

In the constituency meanwhile Reform have accused Andy Burnham of Cronyism in Latest Attack Ad released this morning

The advert accuses Greater Manchester’s Mayor Burnham of lending property developer Renaker millions in public money without full financial checks, with a tribunal warning taxpayer funds were left at risk of being ‘wiped out’.

The Greater Manchester Authority lent £578m in public money to the developer

The case reaches the Court of Appeal tomorrow
