The Parking Lot Social will be kicking off its UK drive-in tour next week, parking up in Manchester’s AJ Bell Stadium for two days of live entertainment.

As well as classic movies, a special kids event and a seasonal Easter panto, the first ever drive-in drag show is coming to town – with tickets selling fast.

With organisers adding the second date due to phenomenal demand, fans can expect to watch their favourite queens sashay onto the stage for an evening of raucous live entertainment, comedy and gag worthy looks.

UK drag queen royalty Baga Chipz and Vinegar Strokes will be joined by recent finalist Ellie Diamond on night one (Friday 16 April), with UK Drag Race alumni Gothy Kendoll, Divina De Campo and Season 2 star Ginny Lemon taking to the stage on night two (Sunday 18 April).

A world first, the drive-in drag show will feature a ‘Battle of the Queens’ silent disco. While the clubs might be shut, each queen will go head to head to get audiences up on their feet and lip syncing from their car seats – with a specially curated mix of classic pop tunes and diva anthems.

Audiences will also enjoy DriveTime Drag ‘Car-a-oke Roulette’. Adding to the immersive experience, each queen will spin the Car-o-oke wheel which will determine their musical fate, before heading into the crowd to find a singer to duet with.

Drag Race UK favourite, Baga Chipz, said, “We are all super excited to be back on an actual stage performing to a live audience for the first time since the UK went into lockdown.  It’s been a difficult time for all who work in the performing community and I for one cannot wait to get back out there and party on The Parking Lot Social DriveTime Drag tour.  Get ready for some dancing, singing and of course plenty of fierce fashion.”

Attendees will be entertained in their cars from a vast custom made stage, with shows broadcast across two 60ft screens. Using the best technology, audio will be transmitted from the stage directly to each vehicle through a dedicated FM radio channel.

Car loads can also enjoy a stellar line up of classic films over the three days, including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and The Greatest Showman. For families with younger children, the Social Kids event offers content adapted to a younger, family-oriented audience and an earlier start time.

Also on the bill is The Parking Lot Social Easter Panto. Tailored specially for the drive-in format, the traditional theatre production has had a seasonal makeover – with cast members putting on a special performance of The Wizard of Oz.

A selection of delicious food from a variety street food vendors will also be available, including award winning burgers from Knowing Meat Knowing You, hearty street food fare from Kells Kitchen and artisan deserts, hot drinks and shakes from Hector & Harriet. All food is ordered online and delivered straight to each car.

Safety is at the heart of the event and audiences take part in the immersive, interactive shows from their own cars. It’s a completely contactless event ensuring a safe and socially distant experience, all in accordance with local government guidelines.
