A man who subjected his victim to horrendous physical and emotional abuse has been jailed for two years

23 year old Kashif Iftikhar pleaded guilty to three 47 offences of assault of a person occasioning actual bodily harm after he was was arrested by police following a number of domestic abuse disclosures from a woman in Trafford.

The victim had been involved in an abusive relationship with the suspect over two years

The victim had suffered in silence during this time until she made the decision to report the abuse to Greater Manchester Police, enabling officers to act.

The investigation team at GMP Trafford CID set about compiling evidence and witness statements that would later compel the offender to plead guilty to the offences and secure him a jail sentence.

Detective Constable Julie Bonney-Thorpe of Trafford CID said: “I want to commend the bravery of the victim in coming forward and reporting what happened to her.

“Iftikhar’s actions were utterly deplorable and he has shown himself to be consistently violent and abusive towards the victim, and showing a disturbing increase in the level of violence he inflicted upon her.

“He subjected the victim to a campaign of physical and emotional abuse and I am relieved he has been put behind bars.
