A package from abroad containing suspected illegal drugs was intercepted en-route to an address in Blackley this morning

A man, aged 19, was arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs and unlawful importation of cannabis.

A woman, aged 53, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, possession of class B drugs, and unlawful importation of cannabis.

Police seized a quantity of suspected cannabis, and recovered a suspected offensive weapon during the course of the search.

The work forms part of the City of Manchester’s neighbourhood team’s commitment to investigating drugs supply within the city, and acting on intelligence where they can.

PC Thomas Wyatt, from GMP’s Manchester district, said: “We work closely with partner agencies to help with our ongoing community operations, and this was an excellent example of that.

“We are determined to crack down on reports of drugs in the area and we will continue to take action where needed. Manchester’s neighbourhood teams are always doing their best to keep the streets safe and crime-free, so do speak to us if you ever have any concerns or queries.”
