The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is officially welcoming its 100th Member this week.

The Charter champions organisations that are committed to equality, fair pay, and giving employees a say in how their workplaces are run.

The mission has been steadily gaining momentum across Greater Manchester as organisations from the private, public and third sectors that recognise the value of endorsing the Charter’s principles have come on board, making a commitment to prioritise good employment practices that benefit both employees and employers.

Ian MacArthur, Director of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, said: “I am thrilled to share the news that we have exceeded 100 Members in the Good Employment Charter.

“This milestone underscores the growing recognition of the pivotal role good employment practices play in our region. We remain steadfast in our commitment to shape a job market in Greater Manchester that is more inclusive and fair for everyone.”

The new organisations joining as Members of the Charter are: Adept Corporate Services, AEW Architects, EMERGE Group, Grassroots Recruitment; Healthy Me, Healthy Communities; Hopwood Hall College; IPOS; Kumar Family Practice; Mr Investa; Salix Homes; The Grange Medical Practice; and Thomasson Memorial School.

More than 125,000 people now work for Member and Supporter organisations across the region, benefitting from good employment, including fair and secure work and being paid the real living wage.

The milestone is a testament to Greater Manchester’s commitment to fostering a thriving, inclusive, and prosperous economy. It signifies that businesses across the region are dedicated to providing their employees with fair and rewarding work experiences, enhancing the region’s reputation as a desirable place to live and work.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said: “The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter reaching the 100 Member milestone is a significant moment for the good work movement.

“This accomplishment demonstrates the progress we’ve made towards ensuring everyone can access work that is secure and fairly paid, within a workplace where they are respected. I want to encourage more employers to get in touch with the Charter team to find out about the positive impacts membership can bring for their business and their employees.”
