Following the festival’s massive 10th anniversary celebration last year, Rewind North returns with a legendary line-up celebrating music icons of the 80s and beyond. Thin Lizzy and Gloria Gaynor will be headlining Rewind for the first time as the festival returns to Capesthorne Hall in Macclesfield from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 August.
Organisers promise to take Rewind to new heights this year with their most musically diverse line-up yet – plus added entertainment including a jam-packed comedy programme and family activities.
Katt Lingard, Rewind Festival Event Manager, said: “Following our milestone 10th anniversary last year, we are excited to take Rewind into the future with a celebration of not just 80s artists but also legends whose influence spans far beyond the decade. It’s going to be a fantastic three days in Capesthorne Hall with something for everyone.”
Disco and R&B queen Gloria Gaynor will be headlining Rewind for the first time on Saturday 3 August. She will be raising the roof with her performance of the timeless dancefloor anthem ‘I Will Survive’, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ and more. Joining Gloria on this vibrant day of live music is Tiffany, Heather Small, Hazel O’Connor, UB40 (feat. Ali Campbell and Astro), The Dire Straits Experience, Neville Staple, The Undertones and The Primitives.
Ali Campbell and Astro of UB40 said: “There is nothing quite like performing at Rewind! The audiences are some of the happiest you will find anywhere and it’s very special to be a part of that. This is looking like the festival’s most diverse line-up yet. It’s going to be great seeing all these artists from different genres and decades come together in one place. Come and see us perform all our hits and party with us. Big love, UB40 Ali and Astro”.
Thin Lizzy are back in town! The legendary rockers will be headlining Rewind North on Sunday 4 August to mark their 50th anniversary year. The band have released 12 studio albums throughout the 70s and early 80s, spawning the signature songs ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’, ‘Whiskey In The Jar’, ‘Dancing In The Moonlight (It Caught Me In Its Spotlight)’ and ‘Jailbreak’.
Guitarist Scott Gorham said: “It’s an honour to play Rewind – with so many classic artists on the bill it’s going to be a day to remember”.
Joining Thin Lizzy are Level 42, Heaven 17, Joyce Sims, Cutting Crew, Black Box, Bjorn Again, The Selecter and From The Jam. Funk fusion band Level 42, led by Mark King, never fails to elevate the atmosphere with a free-flowing rhythmic set, coloured by their signature hits ‘Lessons in Love’ and ‘Something About You’.
Mark King of Level 42 said: “I’m delighted to be bringing Level 42 to Rewind North again this year, and very proud to see this fab festival become one of the very best 80s themed events in the UK. Getting to meet the festival goers is always a joy for us too, both young and not so young, because the ethos of Rewind is ‘bring the family and party on’, and we look forward to being a part of it once again.”
On Friday night, Martin Kemp will be playing a special DJ set jammed pack with some 80s gold. The festival drew their biggest crowds last year with their most extensive entertainment line up yet which featured comedy from Milton Jones and Mick Ferry, special DJ sets and live music.
Rewind is famed for its fun family atmosphere and this year the festival will be rolling out its most comprehensive entertainment line up yet. There’s something for all ages. In the kid’s area, Ziggy’s will be hosting circus skills workshops, family sports days and giant bubble parties. Over the coming months, Rewind will be unveiling their comedy line up, family festival programme and full entertainment line up across all three sites.
