RHS Flower Show Tatton Park is bringing a colourful floral extravaganza to Cheshire from 21- 25 July as one of the first events in the North West to return this summer.

Celebrating a ‘Summer of Love’, the show will be full of ideas and inspiration for budding and expert gardeners with an array of inspirational gardens and horticultural displays. Plus there will be plenty of family fun activities as well as plants and garden sundries for visitors to get everything they need to garden and grow this summer.

Here is a round-up of some of the highlights not to miss at this year’s show as it makes a welcome return:

  • Inspirational Gardens – The gardens on display will offer an abundance of ideas and inspiration. Innovative planting and design ideas can be found in the Tatton Gardens, while big ideas for small spaces will be showcased in the iconic Back to Back Gardens and the new Community Borders will be flourishing with summer planting combinations celebrating the themes of ‘love’ and ‘colour’.
  • RHS Young Designer of the Year – Known for launching the careers of many young designers, this year’s competition will welcome five new designers who, in the face of environmental challenges, will use the show as a platform to raise awareness of important environmental and social issues including climate change and mental health.
  • RHS Flower Power Garden – Former RHS Young Designer finalist Anca Panait returns to the show to explore ‘Flower Power’, highlighting the power of colours and how they affect our mental health and wellbeing.
  • BBC Local Radio City Garden Competition – The 2021 Show will welcome the winning garden designs submitted by listeners of BBC Radio Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire. The gardens will be brought to life following the competition which was launched last year and take inspiration from the winners’ local areas as they showcase what their locality means to them.
  • The BBC North West Community Garden with the RHS – The collaboration will illustrate and celebrate the power of community as it shines a light on some of the amazing projects across the North West and the individuals behind them. Following a year where access to gardens and green spaces has never been so important, the design by Lee Burkhill hopes to provide ideas and inspiration for visitors to implement ways to green up unloved spaces in their own communities.
  • RHS and Tatton Park Rewilding Garden – The Tatton Park Estate has teamed up with the RHS to create a garden that represents the wilder planting around the estate to encourage visitors to explore greater biodiversity in their own gardens. Designed by Michael John McGarr, it represents a ‘rewilded’ section by allowing an area of the landscape to ‘grow out’ and reveal itself, featuring wild flowers and native plants found in the parkland.
  • Floristry – Experts in The Flower School 2021 will fashion floral moon gates to immerse visitors in and provide the perfect floral backdrop for pictures. Meanwhile Fleurs de Villes will be making its debut, working with talented florists who will create a spectacular display of exquisitely dressed mannequins composed of hundreds of beautiful cut flowers in support of Breast Cancer Research.
  • Nurseries & Growers – The Floral Marquee, supported by Qatar Airways and Manchester Airport, and Plant Villages will be brimming with all types of plants to buy alongside the Plant Societies, those looking for unusual plants to grow at home can head to the Plant Hub. This year the show will also celebrate Plantagogo, specialist growers of Heuchera, Heucherella and Tiarella, as 2021’s RHS Master Grower.
  • Green Fields – This area is dedicated to the whole family with plenty of activities including wildlife-friendly gardening with Cheshire Wildlife Trust, nature-themed Forest School activities from the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust and learning how to get kids gardening with Lee Connelly, the Skinny Jean Gardener.
  • Talks & Demonstrations – Visitors looking to hear all the advice and top tips from the experts can head to the Practical Gardening Theatre where there will be demonstrations and talks on all garden-related subjects as well as the Dig In Theatre, The Flower School and Potting Bench.

There will be a number of measures in place to keep everyone safe at the show. For more information on the steps we are taking, please click here.
