The skyline of Manchester could be changing again as propsals for a new scheme which would see four towers from 39 to 60 storeys being built.

The Trinity Islands scheme by the developer Renaker would see 2,000 apartments, varying from one, two and three bedrooms,on a site bounded by the River Irwell to the north and west, Liverpool Road to the east and Water Street and Regent Street to the south.

The scheme whuich will go for planning permission this autumnwill consist of two pairs of towers, which Renaker say will give each pair their own visual identity.

On the first site , the buildings are conceived as diamond forms with a crystalline facade, while the second will emphasise the taller height of the buildings with curved facades.

“Trinity Islands has been a long term vacant and underutilised site. In 2017 the land secured committee approval for a high density residential led scheme, but the approval was not implemented. Since acquiring the site, Renaker have been developing a deliverable scheme that will provide the opportunity to create a new community of residents and workers that are ideally located to access the high-quality amenities and leisure facilities within the wider St. Johns area. ” says the developer
