Firefighters are tackling a large commercial building fire in Bolton this morning

A number of local residents close to the fire have been evacuated as a precaution.

The fire, in a 4-storey, derelict mill building on Parrot Street, broke out around 5.00am this morning.

Station Manager Paul Duggan said: “We have three aerial appliances fighting the fire from above and firefighters are tackling the fire on the ground. A number of residents in the area have been evacuated, with assistance from Greater Manchester Police and Bolton Council. The council are assisting to find temporary accommodation.

An engineer from the council has also been requested to assess the building.”
