Following on from a host of recent awards and continued high demand, El Gato Negro has announced that the restaurant will be extended into the upstairs bar, The Black Cat, with the creation of a further 40 covers.
The acclaimed Black Cat has been highly celebrated since opening and for the first time guests will be invited to dine on the top floor of the heritage building – a perfect relaxed setting for dinner and drinks with Manchester’s only retractable roof.

The ground floor bar and charcuterie will also see an increased bar menu with daily fresh soups and a selection of classic tapa.

To coincide with the expansion, a menu refresh for autumn sees a host of tempting new dishes, to add comfort and warmth to the coming months. From the chargrilled ribeye steak with Iberico ham fries, Palourde clams with sherry and chargrilled sweet potato with mango, chilli and yogurt dressing, these autumnal dishes make great additions to the classic menu.

The menu refresh also sees the introduction of an express lunch menu for those tight on time. The lunch menu will be available Tuesday – Friday, 12:30pm to 2:30pm and offers a choice of three tapas dishes for £15. Choose from a selection of tapas classics from padron peppers, salt cod croquetas and mini catalan chorizo.

Speaking on the developments and menu refresh, Chef Patron, Simon Shaw said: “Since opening we have been blown away by the response. Such has been the demand that we’ve made the decision to extend our food offer into The Black Cat, so our guests can enjoy the dining experience across all floors.

“Autumn nights are drawing in and we’re looking forward to sharing the seasonal additions to our menu. As time has gone on I’ve wanted to experiment and to introduce new and exciting dishes. I’m really pleased with the additions we have on offer and look forward to hearing people’s reactions to them.”
