Whether eating at home or out on the town, Valentine’s Day presents the perfect opportunity to get together as a couple or a group for a relaxed dining occasion over tapas – the ultimate sharing cuisine.

Leading the move to a more social Valentine’s celebration is Simon Shaw, Chef Patron and Creative Director of El Gato Negro Manchester.  Simon believes dining in the tapas style can be an intimate experience for tables of any size.

“Tapas is by nature something special and shared,” he said. “You can order a handful of plates each and taste things other people have chosen, talking about what you enjoy; it’s a good catalyst for conversation.”

Shaw continued: “Plates also tend to arrive to the table as each is prepared, so it’s naturally a more relaxed occasion than sitting down to a single main dish. Wine is a popular addition, and for me Valentine’s Day is a chance to raise a toast to family and friendships.”

This Valentine’s Day El Gato Negro will be catering for couples, groups and individuals alike with both an every-day service and a premium dining offer.

For those looking for a simple, stylish affair and to enjoy a mix of sharing plates and drinks, the restaurant will be open for normal service on the 14/02/2018 between 12:00 and 22:00 (with the top floor open 12:00 – 17:00).

For those looking to really mark the occasion with an extra special experience El Gato Negro will serve a premium dinning offer on the much-loved top floor from 20:00. Priced at £30 per table, diners can enjoy a chilled half bottle of champagne whilst enjoying varied music from the amazingly talented Didsbury String Quartet.

The ever-popular menu will be available, offering favourite dishes including acorn-fed jamón ibérico de bellota, braised ox cheek with horseradish mash, baby onions, button mushrooms and pancetta and fillet of hake with cherry tomato, shallot and mini caper sauce.
