Acclaimed Spanish tapas restaurant, El Gato Negro, has reopened its doors on King St.

Bringing modern Spanish cuisine back to the city, El Gato Negro returns on an initial four-day week (Thursday to Sunday), with extended hours of food service providing guests with the opportunity to enjoy dining late into the evening.

For those looking to extend their night even further, El Gato Negro’s ground floor bar, with a mix of booth and high-table seating, invites guests to sit back and enjoy a wide selection of cocktails, wine, and beer until close.

The restaurant’s top floor, complete with a retractable roof, is the perfect environment in which to dine alfresco, with the return of warmer temperatures and sunshine on the horizon.

Following El Gato Negro’s lead, sister restaurant Canto will re-open at Cutting Room Square tomorrow (July 16th July).

Complementing Canto’s late-night dining will be a new take-out and collection service, offering city dwellers and those passing through with the opportunity to savour a taste of the popular Mediterranean tapas restaurant in the comfort of their own home or office.

The new Collection menu includes a broad number of Canto’s much-loved dishes including Prego (beef steak and caramelised onion on caco bread), mushroom croquetas with black garlic mayo, and chargrilled sweet potato with tzatziki.

For those looking to raise a glass with reunited friends or family or enjoy a belated celebration, Tipsy Tapas returns to Canto every Saturday and Sunday, inviting diners to enjoy three select tapas dishes and bottomless Cava, Bellini, or house wine for 90 minutes from the point of order and for just £30pp.

This service is available from 12:00 to 17:00 every weekend.

“It’s good to be back.  It sounds like a cliché, but we really are a family at El Gato Negro & Canto, and it feels great to return to the restaurants with the team.  The coming weeks are going to be different, and like everyone else, it will take time for us to find our feet, but we’re looking forward to reopening the doors in Manchester and doing what we do best.

The safety of our guests and our team is, as always, of paramount importance to us and we’ve introduced a number of new measures in line with government guidelines to ensure we provide a safe and comfortable dining experience for all.”
