Captain Mary Cragg during a Wizarding day at The East Lancs Railway, Bury

A new event is set to launch this June at the East Lancashire Railway, promising one-liners on the line and a stunning set menu guaranteed to send visitors home with a belly full of food and laughs.

The Greater Manchester attraction – which has become known for its quirky and quaint Dining with Distinction events – will launch this new dining experience on the historic railway, starting with the ‘World of Wizards’.

Taking place on the 21st June, guests will be welcomed for a two and a half hour trip through the Irwell Valley, enjoying a glass of fizz, a three-course set meal and hilarious hocus pocus, as they’re invited to help avert a disaster at the Wizard Academy.

Wannabe wizards will require a sense of humour as they’re asked to brush up on their broomstick riding, become potion making professionals and spell slinging supremo’s – all before pudding is served.

The evening promises enchantment and entertainment as the World of Wizards takes over the dining carriage, treating guests to an evening of conjuring and comedy that promises to leave passengers ‘laughing like a train’.

The experience will see passengers board a heritage steam train to enjoy a delicious menu featuring Ham Hock, Pea and Mustard Pâté, Garlic and Herb Crusted Chicken Breast and Terry’s Chocolate Orange Gateau. As if that wasn’t enough, they will be entertained by an award-winning theatre troupe whilst they eat!

Just 30 minutes on the tram from Manchester city centre, the event starts at Bury Bolton Street Station at 6:45pm and finishes at approximately 10:15pm, with tickets for the adults-only experience starting at £72 per person.
