Corn Exchange, Manchester, a building which is itself steeped in history and stories, has installed a new book vending machine in their huge atrium space.

Whether you need a book to get stuck into during your commute, want to update your bookshelf at home, grab a page-turner for a holiday, or simply have a good read over a drink or meal at Corn Exchange, the new vending machine has it covered.

How it works

The Corn Exchange team is inviting book lovers to come along with their old books, grab a token for the machine and Read. Swap. Repeat!

With the aim to help the environment and reduce waste for book lovers, the machine includes a mix of pre-loved books of all genres. Guests will need to simply bring in a pre-loved book and swap it for a token with one of the Corn Exchange hosts to access the machine and choose their next book.

The books in the vending machine are free of charge, guests will just have to donate a pre-loved book to receive a token to take one from the machine. The Read. Swap. Repeat system can also be used as many times as you like.

Alison Hogarth, Marketing Manager at Corn Exchange said: “We are delighted to have installed our book vending machine at The Corn Exchange and are excited to start a community of book lovers and to see what the people of Manchester are reading.

“All the books in our machine will be second hand so we can do our bit to keep a small amount of pre-loved books in circulation to help the environment, which is something we are really pleased about.”

The book vending machine can be found on the Fennel Street exit of the building.
