Andy and Salford’s Mayor Paul Dennett have met with RFL Chief Executive Tony Sutton to discuss the escalating crisis at Salford Red Devils.

The club announced that they would be able to play their fixture this weekend against Leigh Leopards with injured players returning and others joining the club on loan.

They were forced to postpone their fixture against Wakefield last week leading to a demonstration by fans protesting over the club’s ownership

Following today’s meeting the Mayors have requested a meeting on Friday with the Jacobsen Management Group, owners, to discuss their serious concerns over the club.

“The impending HMRC court hearing, the failures tax obligations, the delay in payment of wages and the lack of financial investment have resulted in a loss of confidence in the ownership among far wider Salford and rugby community.”
